| Veterans For Peace Seeks to increasing public awareness of the costs of war, restrain our government from intervening in the affairs of other nations, works to reduce the arms race as well as eliminating nuclear weapons and works to abolish war as an instrument of international policy. About The Organization Veterans For Peace is a national organization founded in 1985 with a national headquarters office in St. Louis, Missouri. An annual convention is held in August. Member actions have included speaking about their experiences at schools and other venues, lobbying Congress and the President, fact-finding delegations to Central America/ Bosnia/Iraq/Chiapas, Mexico and medical aid trips to Vietnam. About The Chapter Veterans For Peace Chapter 74 is named in honor of Michael Gramlich, a southeast Michigan veteran who for over 40 yeas was a leading-edge peace activist. Michael's quest for peace began in ernest following his experiences with atomic bomb tests in Nevada. Part Native American (he was also known as Grey Eagle) helped further peace through his poetry, music, lectures/discussions and his guided, group and creative individual meditations. Michael passed away in 1998 and in his honor, the Chapter made a geneous legacy donation to the National Association of Radiation Survivors. (www.radiationsurvivors.org) of Weaverville, California. The Southeast Michigan Chapter of Veterans For Peace includes the counties of Wayne, Monroe, Macomb and Oakland and was formed on January 16th, 1993. Becoming A Member Annual dues are $25 and payable to Veterans For Peace, 216 South Meramec Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63105.
