| H.R. 1483 Depleted Uranium Munitions Study Act of 2003 Directs various federal health agencies to study and report to Congress effects of depleted uranium (DU) on members of the military and to people who live near military installations that use DU munitions. Ask Representatives Dingell or Smith to support this bill. **************************************** Dear Representative ________, As a member of Veterans for Peace, I am deeply concerned with issues that military service men and women and veterans face. One of those issues is the use and effects of depleted uranium (DU) munitions. I am writing to urge you to support and co-sponsor H.R. 1483, the Depleted Uranium Munitions Study Act of 2003. It is a bill that requires the federal government to study the effects of DU and to report to Congress its findings. Many experts believe that DU is a major cause of severe health problems for service members who come into contact with it, civilian populations who are indirectly exposed to it during and after combat situations, and an environmental threat in areas that are exposed to DU. This issue is of deep importance to me as a voter, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this. Sincerely, _______________ member Veterans for Peace, Washtenaw County chapter address telephone## ************************************* Contact John Dingell (15th Cong.
